State suspends license of Wausau area auto dealer

October 18, 2013

Violations resulted in five-day suspension

The motor vehicle dealer license of a Wausau area dealership was suspended temporarily by the state of Wisconsin for five calendar days. An investigation by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s (WisDOT) Division of Motor Vehicles Dealer and Agent Section found that, despite earlier warnings, Budget Auto Plus LLC, 4308 Stewart Avenue, Wausau, violated state law. The dealership acknowledged that it failed to transfer vehicle titles on five different vehicles, within seven business days, as required by Wisconsin statute.

The state Department of Administration’s Division of Hearings and Appeals found these violations warranted a five-day suspension of Budget Auto Plus’s motor vehicle dealer’s license. The suspension was completed on September 28, 2013.

While suspended, the dealership could not engage in any activity that required a motor vehicle dealer license. Any future violations could result in the loss of the dealership’s motor vehicle dealer license. Budget Auto Plus agreed to allow agents or employees of WisDOT to inspect all business records necessary to verify compliance with the Order Suspending License.
