US 53/County V interchange is complete
October 29, 2013
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Northwest Region is pleased to announce that work on the US 53/County V interchange is coming to an end.
The department is planning to open all ramps and the new northbound US 53 on Monday, November 4. There will still be single lane closures on US 53 for a couple of weeks after opening to complete cross over removals and miscellaneous finishing work.
"Motorists will now find a much safer crossing at US 53 and County V," said Northwest Region Director Don Gutkowski. "We know this has been an important project for people in the area and we are pleased to open the new interchange next week."
The two-year $10 million project included reconstructing the at-grade intersection into an interchange. County V now runs under US 53 with vehicles merging onto the high-speed US 53 via ramps. All side-road crossing maneuvers will be eliminated.
