US 51/WIS 29 lane closure scheduled in Wausau area next week

November 8, 2013

Crews plan to close two lanes of southbound US 51 between Sherman Street (Wausau) and Marathon County NN (Rib Mountain) on Tuesday, November 12.

The closure is necessary for crews to obtain core samples of the pavement in preparation for planned maintenance work scheduled in 2014. Motorists are reminded to drive with caution in the work zones and should be alert for slow moving vehicles, especially during peak travel hours. While the lanes are closed the speed limit in the work zone will be reduced to 55 mph.

The schedule is subject to change based on favorable weather conditions. If the weather on Tuesday prohibits crews from working, the lane closures will be rescheduled for Wednesday, November 13.
