Governor Walker approves $2 million project at Sheboygan County Memorial Airport

Governor Scott Walker today announced a $2,033,664 project to reconstruct the apron at Sheboygan County Memorial Airport in Sheboygan.

Kim Kaarto, airport engineering specialist with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), said the current asphalt apron will be replaced with concrete to safely accommodate heavier aircraft.

Funding Breakdown

  • State = $101,354.50
  • Sheboygan County = $101,354.50
  • Federal Aviation Administration = $1,830,964

The project is expected to be completed in summer 2014.

Sheboygan County Memorial Airport is one of 98 facilities included in the Wisconsin State Airport System Plan (SASP). It is classified as a large general aviation airport, supporting all general aviation aircraft that include daily operations of all types of business jets.
