Meeting scheduled for Calumet Drive (WIS 42) in Sheboygan

Project will reconstruct one-half mile of roadway
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region in Green Bay is announcing a public involvement meeting to discuss the purpose and need for the Calumet Drive (WIS 42) project from Main Avenue to 26th Street in the city of Sheboygan. The meeting will be held on Thursday, December 5 at Maywood – Ellwood H. May Environmental Park, in the Ecology Center, located at 3615 Mueller Road, Sheboygan, WI 53083, from 4 to 6 p.m. A short presentation will be made at 4:30 p.m.
The project includes reconstructing one-half mile of the existing 4-lane facility, including accommodations for bike lanes. Other proposed improvements include removal and replacement of the existing sidewalk, installation of a new street lighting system, modifications to the North Avenue intersection, and new traffic signals.
The project is tentatively scheduled for 2017 (mid-May through mid-October).
The public is invited to attend and share information concerning historic buildings and structures, archaeological sites, septic systems, drain tiles, or drainage problems near the project with the WisDOT staff. Additionally, they are encouraged to review and discuss the proposed improvements.
The Ecology Center is wheelchair-accessible.
