US 41 Project closures for September 1 to September 5

August 29, 2014

Traffic restrictions in Brown and Winnebago counties

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region in Green Bay is announcing US 41 Project lane restrictions for September 1 to September 5 in Brown and Winnebago counties. Drivers should be aware of 11-foot wide lanes and reduced speed limits in both counties and remember to use caution while traveling through any work zone. Details of all closures are included below.

Note: No construction activities will take place over the Labor Day holiday, although narrow lanes, orange barrels, and barrier walls will still exist along US 41 in Brown County.

Brown County

US 41
Drivers should anticipate various overnight single lane closures on southbound and northbound US 41 along the entire Brown County corridor from south of Glory Road to Lineville Road. Lane closures can vary along the corridor, so drivers are urged to stay alert, pay attention to road signs, slow down and use caution when entering any work zone. The US 41 Project plans to have at least one lane of traffic open at all times on both northbound and southbound US 41 during construction. This does not include closures by local authorities for accidents or unusual incidents (such as weather).

Shawano Avenue
US 41/Shawano Avenue interchange, and Shawano Avenue from Taylor Street to Duck Creek Parkway, will open to traffic on Saturday, August 30. Shawano Avenue between Duck Creek Parkway and Packerland Drive will remain closed until Packerland opens later this fall. The interchange opens six days ahead of the 60-day closure window.

60-day Packerland/Cardinal Lane closure

Packerland Drive/Cardinal Lane will be CLOSED between Holly Way and Duck Creek Parkway (formerly Dousman Street). The new intersection will feature roundabouts at both ramp terminals and a roundabout at County RK and Packerland.

Elmhurst Avenue/Cardinal Lane intersection will also CLOSE on Tuesday, September 2 for construction of a roundabout. WisDOT will maintain a one-lane connection between Cardinal Lane and Duck Creek Parkway during the construction of the roundabout. Access to residents and businesses will also be maintained from Duck Creek Parkway throughout the closure. For a map of alternate routes identified to assist businesses and the public during the reconstruction of the Packerland Drive/Cardinal Lane interchange, visit the US 41 website.
