Work started on College Avenue Bridge in Appleton

December 11, 2013

Railing being replaced

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region in Green Bay is announcing work has begun on the College Avenue Bridge in Appleton, Outagamie County.

The contractor is Janke Contractors, Athens, WI.

Work includes replacement of the bridge railings, due to corrosion. The corrosion also stained the bridge parapets, which will be cleaned and painted. Cost is estimated at $780,000.

Once installation of the bridge railings is completed in mid-January, work will be suspended until mid-March when work will begin on the parapets. The entire project is scheduled to be finished by the mid-June, 2014.

During this work, there will be periodic short duration (approximately one day) lane closures and longer duration sidewalk closures. These will be announced in advance.
