Reminder: Meeting scheduled for WIS 26 improvements in Fond du Lac County

December 11, 2013

Work planned for 2015

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region in Green Bay is providing this reminder that a public involvement meeting to improve approximately 15 miles of WIS 26 from Cattaraugus Drive to County FF in Fond du Lac County is scheduled from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at the Rosendale Village Hall, 211 North Grant Street, Rosendale. A short presentation will be made at 6:45 p.m.

The public is invited to attend and share information concerning historic buildings and structures, archaeological sites, septic systems, drain tiles, or drainage problems near the project with the WisDOT staff. Additionally, they are encouraged to review and discuss the proposed improvements.

The project totals approximately 15.3-miles long, begins just north of US 151 at Cattaragus Drive and ends at the northern Fond du Lac County line, County FF and includes the towns of Waupun, Springvale, Rosendale and Eldorado and the village of Rosendale. The existing pavement along this portion of WIS 26 is deteriorating, can no longer be maintained and nearing the end of its service life. The project is scheduled to begin in spring 2015 and concludes in November.

Proposed improvements outside of the village of Rosendale include:

  • pulverizing the existing pavement and resurfacing it
  • adding centerline and shoulder rumble strips
  • flattening the roadway side slopes and re-grading ditches
  • culvert pipe repairs and replacements
  • beam guard replacements
  • spot intersection improvements

Additionally, right turn lanes may be added or extended at some intersections to improve roadway operations and safety and isolated areas of roadway reconstruction may be required to remove frost heaves in the roadbed or flatten hills to improve sight distances. Box culverts and bridges along this roadway are not proposed to be replaced with this project.

The proposed roadway reconstruction and realignment areas include the curve near the Willow Creek Road intersection.

In the village of Rosendale, the pavement will be milled and resurfaced with spot improvements to sidewalks and curb ramps.

The Rosendale Village Hall is wheelchair accessible. Persons who are unable to attend the meeting can make their comments by contacting  WisDOT Project Manager Kyle Treml at 944 Vanderperren Way, Green Bay, WI 54304; (920) 492-4170 or by e-mail at
