Watertown Plank Road closure Sunday night
January 6, 2014
Work began at 7 p.m.
Work will proceed on the closure of Watertown Plank Road under US 45. Work was expected to begin at 7 p.m. on Sunday night and will result in the full closure of the roadway underneath the US 45 overpass. This work is part of the reconstruction of the Watertown Plank Road Interchange. The work could still be impacted by adverse weather conditions.
The closure which also impacts the ramps off of and onto US 45 will remain in place until late 2014. Both ramps on the east side of the interchange will be completely closed. The off-ramp from southbound US 45 will remain open but will only allow motorists to head westbound on Watertown Plank Road. The on-ramp to southbound US 45 will remain closed.
Detours will be posted and signage will help direct motorists around the construction. Swan Boulevard, North Avenue and Wisconsin Avenue are the primary detour routes. Access to all facilities along the construction zone will be maintained, however, drivers may be entering the facilities from different access points.
WisDOT is asking motorists to allow for additional time and remain alert and to use caution in the construction zone. It will take some time for drivers to adjust to the new patterns and some delays are expected. For more information check out the project website.
