Public meeting for WIS 54 project west of the village of Melrose CANCELLED

January 27, 2014

Due to the extreme cold temperatures forecast for tomorrow, the public information meeting planned at the Melrose Village Hall has been cancelled.

A new date and time has not yet been set.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation Northwest Region in Eau Claire announced a public information meeting to discuss preliminary plans to resurface approximately nine miles of WIS 54 from the west county line to WIS 71 in Jackson County. The meeting was scheduled from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 28, at Melrose Village Hall, 112 N. Washington Street. The meeting will follow an open house format with a short presentation at 5:15 p.m.

The purpose of the project is to resurface the deteriorating pavement, replace drainage structures and beam guard, and add new signing/marking. The construction of the project has not yet been scheduled, but the 2015 construction season would be the earliest.

The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, provide input and ask questions concerning this project. Exhibits showing the plan concepts will be on display. Project representatives will be available to discuss the project on an individual basis.

Citizens who are unable to attend the meeting, or would like more information, can contact David Koepp, project manager, at (715) 836-2078. Written comments regarding the project can be mailed to David Koepp at 718 W. Clairemont Avenue, Eau Claire, WI 54701 Citizens who are deaf or hard of hearing and require an interpreter may request one by contacting David at least three working days prior to the meeting.
