Public meeting for WIS 59 in Green County

January 30, 2014

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Southwest Region in Madison will hold a public involvement meeting to discuss a preventative pavement maintenance project along WIS 59 from Weiss Lane to the south junction of WIS 104 in Green County. The meeting is scheduled from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 25 in the Albertson Memorial Library, 200 North Water Street, Albany.

The project includes asphaltic pavement surface removal and replacement; safety improvements including guardrail upgrades, new signing and pavement markings; and replacement of highway bridge over Sylvester Creek in the town of Sylvester. Road closure during construction is proposed for the structure replacement with a detour route using County S and WIS 11. The remainder of the project will be open to traffic and motorists can expect to encounter temporary lane closures with flagging operations. Acquisition of additional right-of-way is expected for the Sylvester Creek bridge replacement.

The public is encouraged to attend the open-house meeting, provide input and ask questions concerning this project. Maps showing the proposed improvement alternatives will be on display. WisDOT representatives will be available to discuss the project on an individual basis. A formal presentation is not planned.

If you are unable to attend the meeting, or would like more information, contact Chris Hodges at (608) 246-7911, or Written comments regarding the project can be mailed to Chris Hodges, WisDOT SW Regional Office, 2101 Wright Street, Madison, WI, 53704. Citizens who are deaf or hard of hearing and require an interpreter may contact Chris Hodges at least three days prior to the meeting.
