Governor Walker approves reimbursement project at Burnett County Airport
February 5, 2014
Governor Scott Walker today announced a $166,667 project that creates efficient and adequate storage space for snow removal equipment at the Burnett County Airport in Siren.
Gayle Stearn, airport development engineer with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), said Burnett County is being reimbursed for the recent purchase of an existing hangar at the airport. The building provides the needed space for all of the airport’s snow removal equipment to be located in one central facility. This move allows additional room for aircraft storage in other hangars.
- State = $8,333
- Burnett County = $8,334
- Federal Aviation Administration = $150,000
Burnett County Airport is one of 98 facilities included in the Wisconsin State Airport System Plan, which makes it eligible for state and federal funding. Airport improvement projects are administered through WisDOT’s Bureau of Aeronautics.
