Public meeting for central segment of I-39/90 Expansion Project in Rock County

February 6, 2014

Meeting to focus on proposed alternate route during I-39/90 construction

A public information meeting will occur on Tuesday, February 18 to provide information on the proposed alternate route during the reconstruction and expansion of Interstate 39/90 from County O, south of Janesville, to the Dane/Rock County line. The meeting will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the WisDOT Southwest Region Project field office, 111 Interstate Boulevard, Edgerton, WI 53534. A brief presentation will be held at 5:30 p.m. The public should use the entrance on the east side of the building.

In the central segment, the proposed alternate route starts at the WIS 11 (Racine Street) interchange in Janesville, travels east on WIS 11 to the US 14/WIS 11 intersection and follows US 14 north and west to US 51 which continues north to the I-39/90 and US 51/WIS 73 interchange near Edgerton. The meeting will present information on possible improvements to the alternate route, such as:

  • Upgrading local road intersections for safety and better traffic flow;
  • Optimizing traffic signal operations; and
  • Rehabilitating the existing pavement.

Improvements to the proposed alternate route are scheduled for 2015 and 2016. Most of the work is anticipated to be completed in 2015.
