Meeting to focus on proposed roadway and Cherry Creek Bridge improvements

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will hold a public involvement meeting to provide information and review alternatives for proposed improvements of WIS 78 from County D to the south village limits of Argyle in Lafayette County. The meeting is scheduled from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on March 11 at the Wiota Town Hall, 9830 Park Street, Wiota.

The proposed improvement project will include the replacement of the WIS 78 bridge over Cherry Creek east of Wiota, near the intersection of Stuart Road. The project will also include pavement rehabilitation and replacing/adding guardrails, signs, pavement marking and crossroad culverts for 7 miles of WIS 78 between Wiota and Argyle. In addition, design concepts for the reconstruction of the intersection of Spore Road with WIS 78 south of Argyle will be discussed. Construction is currently scheduled for 2017.

The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, provide input and ask questions concerning this project. Maps showing the proposed improvement alternatives will be on display. The meeting will follow an informal open house format. No formal presentations will be given. Representatives of WisDOT and engineering consultant IIW, P.C. will be available to discuss the proposed project and address any questions or concerns.
