US 41/WIS 47 improvements delayed
February 24, 2014
Work now starting Friday, March 7
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region in Green Bay is announcing work on improving the US 41/WIS 47 interchange set to begin Friday, February 28 has been rescheduled to begin Friday, March 7. The delay is due to the exceptionally cold weather forecast for this week. This delay should not impact the expected completion date.
The work includes:
- Raising the bridge from 15 feet to 16 feet 9 inches. This is the last bridge along US 41 in Outagamie County to be raised.
- The 39-foot wide bridge deck will be widened an additional 11 inches with separated bike/pedestrian lanes added.
- Lengthening turn lanes.
The work, estimated at $4.2 million, is expected to be completed by the end of October.
During the project WIS 47 will remain open with lane closures, but the interchange ramps will be closed for the entire project. US 41 will also have occasional lane and shoulder closures. The access to and from US 41 northbound and southbound is at the US 41/ County E interchange. The full detour route is WIS 47/ County OO or County JJ/County E.
Motorists are advised to use caution and remain alert when driving through this or any work zone.
