March 7, 2014

Construction affects 15 miles of highway

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region in Green Bay is announcing a website in now available for details regarding the WIS 26 construction project from just north of US 151 at Cattaraugus Road to the northern Fond du Lac County line (County FF), in the towns of Waupun, Springvale, Rosendale, and Eldorado, and the village of Rosendale in Fond du Lac County. The website can be found at the WisDOT website.

The purpose of this project is to improve the condition of the pavement and provide a safer overall roadway corridor. The existing pavement along this portion of WIS 26 is deteriorating, can no longer be maintained and nearing the end of its service life. Final design of the project is expected this year. Construction is expected to start in spring of 2015 and finish in fall of 2015.

Some of the improvements include:

  • Resurfacing WIS 26
  • Adding centerline and shoulder rumble strips
  • Flattening roadway slopes
  • Improving curve alignment
  • Spot intersection improvements
