Governor Walker approves snow removal equipment building project at West Bend airport

March 17, 2014

Governor Scott Walker today announced a $544,652 construction project for a new snow removal equipment building at West Bend Municipal Airport.

David Montesinos, airport project manager with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), said the new storage facility will extend the life of the airport’s snow removal equipment. As a result, it will help reduce costs associated with keeping pavements clear of snow at the city-owned airport.

Funding Breakdown

  • State = $90,355
  • City of West Bend = $90,357
  • Federal Aviation Administration = $363,850

Construction began in September 2013 and is expected to be completed this May.

West Bend Municipal Airport is one of 98 facilities included in the Wisconsin State Airport System Plan, which makes it eligible for state and federal funding. Airport improvement projects are administered through WisDOT’s Bureau of Aeronautics.
