Governor Walker approves improvements for Green Bay bridge
March 25, 2014
Walnut Street Bridge work starting Monday, March 31
As part of his efforts to create jobs and make sure Wisconsin is open for business, Governor Scott Walker recently approved $669,600 to improve the Walnut Street Bridge (WIS 29) in the city of Green Bay. Construction is scheduled to begin on Monday, March 31. Lunda Construction Company, Black River Falls, is the prime contractor.
WisDOT will be updating the electrical control system and installing television monitors.
There will be occasional short-term lane closures. Near the end of the project, there will also be a week-long full closure of the bridge to allow for testing of the new equipment. That closure will be announced when those dates are known. Work is expected to be completed by November.
Motorists are advised to use caution and remain alert when driving through this or any work zone.
