Public meeting for Madison Beltline (US 12/18) repair project

March 26, 2014

Construction work scheduled for summer 2014

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Southwest Region will hold a public involvement meeting to discuss 2014 construction activities on the Madison Beltline between Fish Hatchery Road and I-39/90. The meeting is scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m. on April 8 at the Wisconsin Department of Revenue building, 2135 Rimrock Road.

WisDOT will be repairing pavement and improving five bridge structures in the work zone. Upgrades to the shoulders and guardrails will be made as well. Construction is scheduled to begin in mid-April and will be completed in the fall.

All lanes on US 12/18 will remain open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nightly lane closures will occur after 7 p.m. Lanes will be narrowed and shifted to create room for construction. Temporary nighttime ramp closures will be required at all ramps between Fish Hatchery Road and Stoughton Road. Message boards will be placed on the ramps to notify the public of upcoming ramp closures at least 3 days in advance. Longer-term ramp closures and/or turn restrictions will be required at Park Street, Rimrock Road and John Nolan Drive.

The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, provide input and ask questions concerning this project. WisDOT representatives will be available to discuss the project on an individual basis.

If you are unable to attend the meeting, or would like more information, contact Curt Neuhauser at (608) 245-2676. Written comments regarding the project can be mailed to Curt Neuhauser, 2101 Wright Street, Madison, WI 53704. Citizens who are deaf or hard of hearing and require an interpreter may request one by contacting Curt Neuhauser at least three working days prior to the meeting.
