Work on US 41/Appleton Avenue to begin in Milwaukee
March 31, 2014
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will begin resurfacing work on US 41 (Appleton Avenue) from WIS 190 (Capitol Drive) to N. 107th Street. Work is scheduled to begin Monday, March 31 and to be completed in late fall.
The roadwork includes pavement repairs throughout the three-mile-stretch of road and full pavement replacement between Capitol Drive and N. 76th Street. Sidewalk will be repaired and added in spot locations on both sides of Appleton Avenue. The Silver Spring Interchange will be raised to provide a greater vertical clearance over Silver Spring.
Improvements include upgrading traffic signals and pedestrian curb ramps which will create a safer location for pedestrians to cross the street.
One lane of traffic will remain open in each direction along Appleton Avenue during construction with left and right turn lanes provided at the signalized intersections. At night, turn lanes may be closed when construction is occurring in the lane.
