Work on Rock Freeway begins
April 15, 2014
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is beginning work on I-43 southbound/Rock Freeway from US 12 to WIS 83 in Walworth and Waukesha counties.
Construction began April 14 and is expected to be complete in fall 2014. The project includes resurfacing of the 14 mile stretch, repairs to several bridges on the corridor and reconstruction of the bridge over the Canadian National Railroad just south of WIS 83.
The current condition of the roadway and bridge is highly deteriorated. The rehabilitation of the roadway will create an improved, long lasting driving surface.
The project will include lane closures including I-43 southbound being reduced to a single travel lane along the entire length of the project.
