Public meeting for US 18 in Crawford County

April 15, 2014

Meeting to present preliminary project improvements

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Southwest Region will hold a public information meeting to discuss the preliminary project improvements for the reconstruction of US 18 from South Town Lane to WIS 60 in Crawford County. The meeting is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30 in the Community Room at the Bridgeport Fire Station, 63176 Vineyard Road, Prairie du Chien. The meeting will follow an open house format.

The proposed improvements include reconstructing US 18 between South Town Lane and WIS 60. Preliminary plans have the highway widened from the existing 2 to 3 lane roadway to a 4 lane divided roadway. The intersection of US 18 and WIS 60 would be upgraded and side road access points reduced by realigning and combining various side roads before connecting to US 18. Construction is currently scheduled for 2016. The project will be constructed in stages while remaining open to traffic.

The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, provide input and ask questions concerning this project. Maps showing the proposed improvement alternatives will be on display. WisDOT representatives will be available to discuss the project on an individual basis.

If you are unable to attend the meeting, or would like more information, contact Jeremy Krachey, WisDOT project manager, at (608) 789-5702; Written comments regarding the project can be mailed to Jeremy Krachey, 3550 Mormon Coulee Road, La Crosse, WI 54601.
