Highway 19 construction, Waunakee, begins Monday
May 1, 2014
Construction will begin Monday, May 5 on Highway 19/Main Street in the village of Waunakee.
Highway 19, Highway 113, and County Q in the village will be closed to through traffic and detoured. Access to businesses and residences in the work zone will remain open to local traffic.
The project includes the reconstruction of the Highway 19/Century Avenue intersection with a roundabout. Pedestrian accommodations will improve in the area, signals added at Holiday Drive, left-turn lanes will be constructed at Madison Street, and the railroad crossing at South Street will be updated.
Concurrent with the project, the village of Waunakee will be replacing the existing sidewalk and curb and gutter, adding concrete paver terraces from Fish Street to Madison Street and installing new lighting from Holiday to Division Street.
The state portion of the improvements, estimated at $3 million, is scheduled for completion in early September.
