Scheuring Road Bridge staining to begin in Brown County
May 2, 2014
Vehicle damage prompted girder replacement
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region in Green Bay is announcing parapet staining work on the Scheuring Road Bridge over US 41 in De Pere will take place May 5 through May 15. Traffic impacts include lane and shoulder closures on US 41 under the bridge. No closures on Scheuring Road are expected.
On September 4, 2012, a vehicle that exceeded the allowable vertical clearance standard hit the underside of the bridge. The impact damaged four girders that support the bridge surface. WisDOT replaced three of the girders and applied a protective surface coat to the fourth in 2013. The only remaining work is staining of the parapet. The over-height vehicle’s owner will be charged for the estimated $940,162 dollars in repairs.
Significant traffic impacts are as follows:
- On May 8, 9 and 12 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. US 41 under the Scheuring Road Bridge will be reduced to one-lane of traffic.
- May 5 through May 15, traffic may be reduced to two lanes at times during staining.
All lane restrictions are weather-dependent and subject to change.
