Governor Walker approves construction of new WIS 64 interchange at US 141 in Marinette County
May 22, 2014
WIS 64 traffic detour starts June 2
As part of his efforts to create jobs and make sure Wisconsin is open for business, Governor Scott Walker recently approved $5.6 million to construct a new US 141/WIS 64 interchange with a new overpass and roundabouts in Marinette County. Construction is scheduled to begin June 2 and finish in October of 2014.
James Peterson Sons, Inc. from Medford, WI is the prime contractor.
The new intersection will improve the safety of the crossing of WIS 64 and US 141 traffic by eliminating the need for an at-grade, stop sign crossing of traffic on WIS 64. The work will consist of construction of a new WIS 64 bridge over US 141 and new roundabouts at on and off-ramp terminals, which will improve traffic flow and promote safer travel. Other work at the new intersection includes concrete curb and gutter, paving and pavement markings, permanent signing, and earthwork.
WIS 64 traffic will be detoured for the duration of the project. The detour route for the project during the closure of the WIS 64/US 141 interchange is: WIS 64 to County ZZ to County B to County W to WIS 64. US 141 traffic will experience various single lane closures in each direction from 6 a.m. Mondays to noon on Fridays during the duration of the project. A 12-foot minimum lane width will be maintained at all times on US 141 during the duration of the project.
Motorists are advised to use caution and remain alert when driving through this or any work zone.
