Culvert replacement project to begin in Bayfield County

May 28, 2014

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation will begin work to replace three culverts on WIS 13 between Cornucopia and Red Cliff on Monday, June 2.

Culverts will be replaced at Saxine Creek, Saxine Tributary and the Sand River Tributary, which will force closure of WIS 13. The highway will be closed at Saxine Creek located about 4 miles east of Cornucopia. WIS 13 will be detoured between Cornucopia and Washburn using County C. Sand River Tributary will have temporary 16 foot roadways with temporary traffic signals and will be open to traffic at all times. There will be a signed local access route between Cornucopia and Meyers Beach Road to bypass the Saxine Creek and Saxine Tributary projects.

WIS 13 is expected to reopen to traffic on July 17 with project completion expected by the end of July.

Project updates can be found throughout construction at the project website. Traffic updates are also posted on Twitter.
