Night time closure of WIS 20 at I-94 for demolition work

May 29, 2014

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will begin preliminary demolition work of the I-94 west (northbound) bridge over WIS 20 in Racine County. Demolition of the parapets is scheduled to begin Thursday night May 29 with the remaining demolition work to continue and conclude on Saturday night into Sunday morning. The work will require full overnight closures of WIS 20 under I-94, Thursday and Saturday nights.

On Thursday night, WIS 20 under I-94 will be shut down from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. There will be an overnight double lane closure of I-94 west (northbound) through the work zone from 9:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.

On Friday night, WIS 20 under I-94 will be open while the I-94 west (northbound) double lane closure in the work zone will be in effect from 9:30 p.m. to 8 a.m.

On Saturday, WIS 20 under I-94 will be closed from 8 p.m. to 9 a.m. The double lane closure on I-94 west (northbound) in the work zone will be in effect from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m.

The schedule is weather-dependent and subject to change.

There will be noise and dust associated with the I-94 west (northbound) bridge demolition. Steps will be taken to minimize these effects.

Travelers can utilize 58th Road and the frontage roads as their detour routes to get around the overnight full closures on WIS 20 under I-94. WisDOT is continuing its resurfacing project on I-94 in Racine County. Related night time lane closures north of WIS 20 will remain in effect. One lane of traffic is scheduled to remain open at all times in the overnight hours.

As always, check Wisconsin 511 online for detailed information on closures and traffic.
