June 10, 2014
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation SE Region in Milwaukee is working with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) to inform travelers of major impacts to travel in the Chicago area beginning June 13, through the end of June.
Work will begin the weekend of June 13 to demolish the westbound Ohio/Ontario Street Bridge to eastbound I-90/94 (Kennedy Expressway), in Chicago. IDOT will be utilizing full freeway closures over the course of three weekends in order to complete the work, with a 2-lane diversion of traffic: June 13, 14, 15 (inbound direction); June 20, 21, 22 (outbound); and June 27, 28, 29 (ramp from inbound to Ohio Street).
All work is weather-dependent. Major impacts are anticipated, and travelers are being urged to take public transit or avoid travel in the area.
See attached full release for map of affected area.
Detour routes can be found at the IDOT website.
