WisDOT schedules public meeting to discuss WIS 47 in Shawano

June 12, 2014

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is conducting a public involvement meeting to discuss WIS 47 (Airport Drive) between WIS 29 and WIS 22 (Green Bay Street), in the city of Shawano.

The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 24, from 6 to 8 p.m., in the Community Room of Shawano City Hall, 127 South Sawyer Street, Shawano. A brief presentation is scheduled to begin at 6:15 p.m. The remainder of the meeting will follow an open house. The objective of the meeting is to discuss the purpose and the need for the WIS 47 project as well as obtain the public’s input on proposed improvements, construction schedule, and traffic impacts.

The existing pavement on WIS 47 (Airport Drive) is deteriorated and has reached the end of its service life. The improvement project will also address safety concerns at the WIS 47/Green Bay Street and WIS 47/County B intersections.

Construction is currently scheduled for 2016.

Shawano City Hall is handicapped accessible. Citizens planning to attend the meeting who are deaf or hard of hearing and require an interpreter, may request one by contacting Kristin McHugh at least three working days prior to the meeting.
