Public involvement meeting for WIS 65 improvements in Polk County
July 7, 2014
Meeting will provide project information and encourage community feedback.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northwest Region will be holding a public involvement meeting to discuss plans to make roadway improvements on WIS 65 from 40th Avenue to .57 miles north of 40th Avenue. The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, July 17 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Alden Town Hall, 183 155th Street, Star Prairie, Wisconsin.
WisDOT is proposing to reconstruct a portion of WIS 65 to improve traffic safety while minimizing the environmental impact. The crash rate is significantly higher on this highway segment due to crests and curves that limit sight of the upcoming roadway. The proposed improvements include reconstructing the roadway with a straighter alignment, lessening hills, and making intersection improvements at 40th Avenue to improve sight distance.
The meeting will begin with a short presentation of project information. Maps and aerial views of the proposed improvement area will be on display. The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, provide input and ask questions concerning the project. WisDOT representatives will be available to discuss the project on answer questions.
If you are unable to attend the meeting, or would like more information, contact Project Manager Beth Cunningham at (715) 635-4973. Written comments regarding the project can be mailed to Beth Cunningham, WisDOT NW Region/Spooner, W7102 Green Valley Road, Spooner, WI 54801 or emailed to email@example.com.
