WIS 49 reopening delayed to Thursday in Fond du Lac County

July 22, 2014

Highway between Brandon and Waupun had been closed since June 24.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region in Green Bay is announcing WIS 49 from Waupun (County MMM) to Brandon (Clark Street) in Fond du Lac County will open by Thursday, July 24. A delay in the delivery of beamguard posts pushed back the tentatively scheduled, reopening date of Wednesday morning, July 23. Without the beamguard, there is a hazard to the traveling public.

The highway has been closed since June 24 as crews replaced cross culverts and update a railroad crossing. For the remainder of the project, WIS 49 will remain open with lane closures and flagging operations.

The $2.5 million project includes resurfacing the asphalt pavement, replacing select deteriorated cross culverts throughout the project, localized areas of slope flattening at culvert ends and other areas, and replacing the railroad crossing. The project is expected to be completed by early September.

Motorists are reminded to use caution and remain alert when driving through this or any work zone.
