New closures planned for US 41 under the WIS 47/US 41 bridge in Outagamie County
July 25, 2014
WIS 47 also closing
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is announcing full OVERNIGHT closures on US 41 northbound at the US 41/WIS 47 (N. Richmond Street) interchange in Outagamie County. WIS 47 will also be closed at this location.
- There will be a full closure of US 41 northbound with traffic diverted onto the WIS 47 interchange ramps and a full closure of WIS 47 at this location on Sunday, July 27 and again on Monday, July 28 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- There will be a full closure of US 41 southbound with traffic diverted onto the WIS 47 interchange ramps and a full closure of WIS 47 at this location on Tuesday, July 29 and again on Wednesday, July 30 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- There will also be a full closure of WIS 47 at this location on all four nights when either northbound or southbound US 41 is closed.
The closures will reduce US 41 to one lane with traffic diverted off and back onto the highway using the interchange ramps.
Motorists should anticipate backups on US 41 at this location, use caution and remain alert to signing directions.
The $4.2 million project will raise the clearance under the bridge from 15 feet to 16 feet 9 inches minimum – this is the last bridge along US 41 in Outagamie County to be raised. The bridge deck is also being widened from 39 feet to 39 feet 11 inches and the lanes are being reconfigured to add a separated bike/pedestrian lane. Work is expected to be completed in October.
