Public meeting for WIS 20/83 in Racine County

Meeting to focus on the preliminary roadway design

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Southeast Region in Waukesha is announcing a public involvement meeting to discuss the reconstruction of WIS 20/83 from Buena Park Road to Milwaukee Avenue (WIS 36) in the village and town of Waterford and the village of Rochester in Racine County. The project includes the reconstruction of East Main Street from First Street to Milwaukee Street. The meeting is scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, August 19, at the Waterford Public Library, 101 N. River Street, Waterford, WI 53185. A brief presentation will be given at 4 p.m. followed by an information open house until 6 p.m.

The intent of this public meeting is to discuss the reconstruction project. Exhibits will be on display showing the preliminary design for improving the roadway and photo renderings of the proposed improvements. The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, provide input and ask questions concerning this project. WisDOT representatives will be available to discuss the project and answer questions.

WIS 20/83 from Buena Park Road to the Main Street and First Street intersection is expected to be widened to accommodate 4 travel lanes (2 in each direction). Bike and pedestrian accommodations would be provided. Intersections would be brought up to current design standards. Right-of-way acquisition is anticipated. Construction is tentatively scheduled for 2018 or 2019.
