Public meeting for WIS 33 project, village of Cashton
August 19, 2014
Meeting to focus on proposed improvements, public encouraged to attend and comment
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Southwest Region will hold a public involvement meeting to discuss proposed plans for the upcoming WIS 33 project. The meeting will take place in the Cashton Community Hall, 811 Main Street, on Tuesday, August 26, from 5 to 7 p.m. The meeting will follow an informal open house format. A brief presentation about the project will be given at 5:30 p.m. Maps showing the proposed improvements will be on display along with WisDOT representatives who will be available to discuss the project both before and after the presentation on an individual basis.
WisDOT is in the process of developing plans for a proposed project located along WIS 33 from the WIS 27/WIS 33 intersection to Hill Street through the village of Cashton. The project will involve removing the existing roadway and replacing it with a new roadway structure. The existing roadway will be narrowed from 44’ from curb face to curb face to 40’ curb face to curb face, and parking will be eliminated along WIS 33. Sidewalk will be replaced and added to both sides of the roadway for a majority of the project. New storm sewer will also be added with this project. The Coe Street/WIS 33 intersection will be removed and Kissel Avenue will be extended to intersect with WIS 33. Lastly, the WIS 33/Front Street intersection will be improved with a larger radius on WIS 33 to help with truck traffic. Construction for this WisDOT project is currently scheduled for the summer of 2017 with the village of Cashton doing their utility improvements in the summer of 2016.
