Closure extended for WIS 47 over US 41
August 19, 2014
Highway will open later Monday night
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is announcing the full closure of WIS 47 northbound and southbound from W. Seneca Drive to Evergreen Drive in Outagamie County on Monday, August 18 has been extended to 8 p.m. Monday night. It had been scheduled to open earlier Monday. This delay is due to the rainy weather that was encountered throughout the day, but the highway is reopening later Monday evening.
Motorists will need to continue seeking alternate routes during this closure.
The $4.2 million project will raise the clearance under the bridge from 15 feet to 16 feet 9 inches minimum. This is the last bridge along US 41 in Outagamie County to be raised. The bridge deck is also being widened from 39 feet to 39 feet 11 inches and the lanes are being reconfigured to add a separated bike/pedestrian lane. Work is expected to be completed in October.
