Work on Paradise Drive Park and Ride in Washington County to begin

August 25, 2014

Lot to close, Washington County Commuter Express (WCCE) bus service and alternate parking provided at Jackson Park and Ride

On Tuesday, September 2, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will begin a $350,000 resurfacing project of the Paradise Drive Park and Ride lot on Parkway Drive in the city of West Bend, Washington County. The lot will be completely closed beginning this day.

Built seven years ago, the Paradise Drive lot is in deteriorating condition, requiring areas of pavement replacement and patching on an ongoing basis.

The project will:

  • Resurface the asphalt parking lot.
  • Place concrete pavement in the bus area.
  • Construct a curb and gutter median to improve drainage and define parking areas.
  • Improve on-site bike and pedestrian features.
  • Provide motorcycle parking.

The contractor, Vinton, plans on completing the project in late October. The Paradise Drive Park and Ride will be closed for the duration of construction. WisDOT asks that motorists do not use adjacent businesses for park and ride services.

Motorists and transit users of the Paradise Drive Park and Ride can utilize the Jackson Park and Ride located at County P and Apple Lane, near US 45 at Exit 63. The signed detour route from the closed Paradise Drive Park and Ride lot follows Parkway Drive northwest to Paradise Drive, west to US 45, south to WIS 60, one block east to County P and north several hundred feet to Apple Lane.

Additional WCCE bus service information is available at 1-888-675-WCCE (9223) or at the WCCE website.
