County A Lake Delton - need/purpose

The reconstruction of County A is a crucial link in the restoration of Lake Delton, one of the state’s most popular travel destinations and an important part of the state economy, which was devastated by flooding in June 2008.

The project entails construction of a cofferdam to restrict the flow of water into the planned work zone. A substantial amount of fill will then address the breach and provide an embankment for the new roadway. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is overseeing the design and construction of a solution that minimizes the possibility of future failures.

The reconstruction of County A will mark the recovery of Lake Delton from the devastating floods and help restore the area as one of the premier tourist destinations in the upper Midwest.
