Wisconsin high-speed intercity passenger rail

Note: September 16, 2010 – Community workshop scheduled from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. at the Marshall Elementary School, 617 Madison Street, Marshall. This is an opportunity for the public to learn more about the project and design activities in the Milwaukee-Madison rail corridor. Project staff will be available to answer corridor and station development process questions.

Project overview

Talgo high-speed train.The development of high-speed intercity passenger rail in the Midwest is part of the proposed Midwest Regional Rail Corridor, a 3,000-mile Midwest passenger rail network radiating from Chicago and serving nine states.

On October 2, 2009, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation submitted an application to the Federal Railroad Administration for American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Recovery Act) funding to construct the Milwaukee to Madison segment of the Midwest Regional Rail Corridor. The project received an award of $810 million.
