US 14 reconstruction public involvement

Highway projects are cooperatively developed by the public, state and federal review agencies, and WisDOT. Preparing reconstruction projects like those on US 14 takes several years, and extensive effort is always made to keep the public involved and informed.

All required public involvement procedures and the development of the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) were completed at the time the original alignment was selected in the 1970s. Now that WisDOT is preparing to move ahead, new meetings are being held with local officials and the public to ensure the results of the original EIS are still applicable to today's residents and environment.

Public information meetings

Public information meetings are held to gather data used to develop a project. The meetings are announced through advertisements in area newspapers, display ads, on this page and through other means.

The US 14 public information meetings are an opportunity for current area residents to discuss and provide input on WisDOT's plans to construct the road on a new alignment originally developed in the 1970s.

WisDOT held a US 14 public information meeting in spring 2006 and is planning a pre-construction meeting in 2007.
