Burlington bypass project - public involvement

Developing a project like the Burlington bypass requires extensive community involvement and coordination with local governments and state and federal review agencies.

Public meetings and hearings

Public information meetings will be scheduled during the final design phase of the bypass project. Meeting dates and times will be posted to this page.

There are no meetings currently scheduled.

Previously held

November 1994 - Data gathering at the beginning of the public involvement process.
August, September and October 1995 - Secondary impact evaluation meetings were held to discuss existing and future land use policies concerning the numerous municipalities within the study area.
May 1996 - Public hearing was held.
August 20, August 28, September 19 and September 23, 1998, and March 12, 2003 - Additional local information center meetings were held to present the public with a more detailed design of the preferred alternative.
Starting in December 1994 - Meetings to present project updates and collect input from the public were held at local information centers the third Thursday of every month for 16 months.
Numerous meetings were held throughout the project with individual property owners, special interest groups and municipalities to discuss individual concerns as requested.

News releases are used to make formal announcements about the project to the press and general public and will be posted to this site.

March 8, 2006 - First contract for Burlington Bypass project scheduled to begin
