Burlington bypass project - traffic impacts

2006 impacts

In April 2006, both WIS 142 and County A were closed to through traffic due to interchange construction.

County A through traffic was detoured using County J, WIS 11 and County W.
WIS 142 through traffic was detoured using WIS 75 and WIS 11.

2007 impacts

In early 2007, WIS 11 was closed to through traffic for reconstruction. WIS 11 through traffic was detoured using WIS 142 and WIS 75.

In 2007 the WIS 36/83 interchange was constructed. The construction occurred in stages. No detour was required however, traffic shifts and lane closures occurred with respect to the corresponding construction stages. Counter-directional traffic was required for a majority of the time during construction. The interchange construction will be completed in the fall of 2007. However, temporary lane closures will still be required until the completion of the east half of the bypass in the fall of 2008.

2007/2008 impacts

In late 2007, Brever Road and Ketterhagen Road will be closed to through traffic so embankments can be placed prior to construction of their overpasses. Paved access will be provided to local residents through the winter. Construction on the side roads and overpasses will continue through the spring of 2008 and be completed by summer. No detours will be posted for these roadways.

In early 2008, WIS 83 will be closed to through traffic so it can be reconstructed. Access for local residents will be maintained throughout construction. Paved access for emergency vehicles and local residents will be provided from Hidden Creek Lane to the north project limit throughout construction. Access to Yahnke Road will be provided via Hidden Creek Lane while its current access to WIS 83 is removed. WIS 83 will be completed from Hidden Creek Lane to the north project limits by early summer of 2008. The remainder of WIS 83 will remain closed until fall of 2008. WIS 83 through traffic will be detoured using WIS 50, County P and Market Street in the city of Burlington.

2008 impacts

In early 2008, Spring Valley Road will be closed to through traffic for construction. Construction on Spring Valley Road and its overpass will continue through the summer of 2008 and be completed by fall. No detour will be posted for this roadway.

2009 impacts

In early 2009, both WIS 36 and County P will be closed to through traffic due to interchange construction. Construction of the interchanges will continue through the summer of 2009 and be completed by late fall. A detailed description of traffic impacts is not available at this time as the final design is underway.

County P through traffic will be detoured using Market Street in the City of Burlington, WIS 83 and WIS 50.
WIS 36 through traffic will be detoured using WIS 120 and WIS 11.

2010 impacts

In early 2010, WIS 11 will be closed to through traffic due to construction. Construction will continue through the summer of 2010 and be completed by fall. A detailed description of traffic impacts is not available at this time as the final design is underway.
