Thill Road to County D project

This 4.8-mile project extended from the US 151/Thill Road intersection to the US 151/County D intersection in western Fond du Lac County. Construction began in spring 2004 and was completed in fall 2005.

The project's purpose was to:

  • Provide additional roadway capacity to serve existing and forecasted traffic volumes.
  • Improve operational efficiency and safety for through and local traffic.
  • Provide a system link to US 41 and the proposed Fond Du Lac bypass east of US 41.

Some of the project's benefits included:

  • Enhancement of the economic viability of the communities served by the highway.
  • Reduction in travel time for daily trips between residences, jobs, markets and other services.

The new four-lane highway may also influence the direction of travel selected by vacationers. For example, an improved US 151 may increase use by visitors to the Horicon Marsh, the annual experimental Aircraft Association Fly-In at Oshkosh and other area resources.
