US 141 expansion need

US 141 traffic flow is impeded by heavy traffic volume and multiple access points. Since US 141 is not access controlled within the project area, through traffic is slowed down by farm machinery and in residential areas. 

The existing highway has 360 side roads, driveways and field access points. The frequency of access points along the route promotes and adds to congestion and the potential for crashes.

Reconstructing US 141 will provide additional capacity to serve existing and projected traffic volumes and to improve operational efficiency and safety for local and through traffic. The project will also provide for future mobility needs and enhance regional economic development.
