Public meetings | News releases | Newsletters

The public has been and will be involved throughout the development of the US 41 expansion project from Oconto to Peshtigo. Public involvement activities include public information meetings, news releases, project newsletters and meetings with local officials.

Public information meetings

Public information meetings (PIMs) are held to keep the public informed about project activities and to obtain public input. The meetings are announced through advertisements in area newspapers, display ads, project newsletters and on this Web site.

Scheduled
There are no meetings currently scheduled.

Previously held
A public meeting was held May 17, 2005, as a supplement to the hearings that were held in August 1999, and provided additional opportunity for the public to comment on the project's environmental aspects and the Federal Draft EIS. 

A public meeting was held November 30, 2004, to present and discuss the proposed improvements of the Oconto bypass only.

A public meeting was held March 16, 2004, to present and discuss the proposed improvements of the Peshtigo bypass only.

Public meetings were held October 28 and October 30, 2003, to present and discuss the proposed improvements for the portion of the project between the cities of Oconto and Peshtigo only, not including the bypasses.

Public meetings were also held October 29 and October 30, 2002, to present preliminary roadway alignment proposals and to gain public input used to refine these alignments for the recommended alternative.

Public hearings were held August 4 and August 5, 1999, to discuss and receive testimony on the location, design, environmental and state trunk system change aspects of the US 41 project.

Public meetings were held June 23 and June 24, 1997, to gain public input on the various corridor alternatives for the US 41 project.

News releases

News releases are sent to local media and officials to keep the public informed about WisDOT projects.

Newsletters

Project newsletters are sent to local units of government, owners of property abutting the project corridor and other interested groups.

A project newsletter was sent to approximately 460 people and businesses in November 1997 following the public information meetings held earlier that year. In September 1998, a second newsletter was sent to approximately 700 people and businesses. Newsletters were also sent to about 890 people and businesses in July and November 1999, and January 2000.

The next newsletter will be sent in summer 2006.
