Public information meetings (PIM)

WisDOT holds PIMs to gather data, evaluate alternatives and prepare environmental reports.

  • June 2002 - The first PIM was held. This meeting presented preliminary alignments for the additional lanes, frontage road locations and treatments of intersecting local roads.
  • August 2003 - The second PIM was held and presented the proposed alignments for US 45, the final frontage road alignments and treatments of intersecting local roads, and proposed right of way acquisitions.
  • March 22, 2005 - The third and final PIM was held. Various topics were addressed, including proposed alignments for US 45, ultimate frontage road alignments, treatment of intersecting local roads, proposed access control and right of way acquisition.

Local and agency coordination

WisDOT held meetings and coordinated with local officials during the development and refinement of the alignments for the additional lanes, frontage road locations and intersection treatments. Participants included the towns of Winchester and Winneconne, Winnebago County, and the East Central Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission.

State and federal review agencies have been involved in the study during data gathering, and throughout the development and refinement of the alternatives. State agencies included the Department of Natural Resources, the State Historical Society, and the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection. Federal agencies included the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Natural Resource Conservation Service, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
