WIS 57 expansion project purpose

Increasing traffic volumes, especially during the summer months, contributed to the need for WIS 57 to be upgraded and improved.  

Crashes resulting in injuries and deaths have prompted requests from local residents, businesses, state and local officials to accelerate the project.  

The WIS 57 expansion will:  

• Provide additional roadway capacity to serve existing and projected traffic volumes.
• Improve operational efficiency and safety for both local and through traffic.
• Enhance regional economic development in accordance with area-wide plans and use polices and WisDOT’s Corridors 2020 report.
