US 51/WIS 29 project schedule - 2007

To minimize delays, local traffic should take alternate routes as work progresses.

Project: Reconstruct US 51 and construct Bridge Street on new alignment. (Exit 192 to Exit 194)
Traffic impact: US 51 traffic may be reduced to one lane in each direction during off-peak hours. Ramp and roadway closures and blasting will occur throughout the duration of the project. Motorists are encouraged to watch the message boards north and south of the interchange for up-to-date closure dates and times.

Crews will stop traffic in both directions on US 51 near the Bridge Street interchange for blasting operations through May 2007. Bridge Street, between Westwood Drive and 17th Avenue, will remain closed until September 2007. The Bridge Street ramps to and from southbound US 51 will remain closed until September 2007. The Bridge Street ramps to and from northbound US 51 will remain closed for the duration of the project.
Dates: August 2006 through November 2007

Project: Construct southbound lanes between WIS 52 and County NN. (Exit 190 to Exit 192)
US 51/WIS 29 southbound traffic will be reduced to one lane for one week in late spring, for bridge construction. US 51/WIS 29 may be reduced to one lane in each direction during off-peak hours. Periodic lane closures may be required on Stewart Avenue and Sherman Street for bridge construction.
Dates: August 2006 through November of 2008

Project: Construct northbound lanes between County N and WIS 52 northbound. (Exit 188 to Exit 192)
US 51/WIS 29 may be reduced to one lane in each direction during off-peak hours.
Dates: March 2007 through summer of 2009

Project: Construct ramp from southbound US 51 to westbound WIS 29. (Exit 191 to Exit 192)
Periodic lane closures will be required on Stewart Avenue, 28th Avenue and WIS 52 for bridge construction. Ramp will open in fall of 2007.

Project: Construct WIS 29 freeway ramps. (Exit 191)
Periodic lane closures will be required on 28th Avenue for bridge construction.
Dates: March 2007 through fall of 2008
