I-90 corridor roadside facilities study - West Salem truck weigh station

The West Salem safety and weight enforcement facility (SWEF) is located on eastbound I-90 at mile marker 10, east of La Crosse in La Crosse County.

It is part of the port-of-entry enforcement focus and weighs about 400 to 600 trucks daily.

The West Salem SWEF was originally constructed in 1969 and the building replaced in 1987. The station hosts a single platform static scale and truck inspections are performed outdoors. Occasional backups onto I-90 do occur.

It is generally open 8 hours a day, 5 days a week (days and times vary) and has 19 truck parking stalls (available 24 hours). No amenities are available for truckers when the weigh station is closed.
