I-39/Business 51 interchange project

The I-39/Business 51 interchange (Exit 161), north of North Point Drive in Stevens Point, is an important and widely used northern connection to Portage County. The interchange is a crucial link for north side businesses and local residents. 

The project is currently scheduled to begin on May 27, 2008. Planned improvements include: raising and replacing the concrete bridge deck, repainting the steel bridge girders, replacing 2.5 miles of ramp pavement and adding a deceleration lane for the northbound exit ramp. 

The project represents a $2.5 million investment in North Central Wisconsin’s transportation system.

The project is scheduled for completion in late October 2008.
