WIS 29 (Sunrise Dr.-Business 51 Interchange), town of Rib Mountain and village of Rothschild, Marathon County.
Project overview
- The existing WIS 29 eastbound and westbound pavement is nearing the end of its useful life and needs to be replaced.
- The bridge decks of the eastbound and westbound bridges over the Wisconsin River and Business 51 are deteriorating and in need of replacement.
- The Sunrise Drive overpass bridge deck needs preventative maintenance to extend its service life. The bridge does not meet current vertical clearance requirements and needs to be raised.
WIS 29 serves multiple communities along with being a regional backbone highway and providing a primary east-west roadway in northern Wisconsin.
Status/phase
Planning began in 2010. Project design began in 2012 and will continue through 2013. Construction is currently scheduled for 2014.
